DeSantis mind-boggling Friday quotes translated

Thanks to the Twitter feed of the outstanding The Miami Herald Reporter Mary Ellen Klas for these quotes from the Governor.

REGARDING VACCINES AND VACCINE PASSPORTS:

“It’s about your health and whether you want that protection or not, it really doesn’t impact me or anyone else.”

Ron DeSantis September 3, 2021

TRANSLATION: Governor DeSantis views vaccinations as a “personal choice” and doesn’t understand or worse yet does not care about the science that shows that without question unvaccinated people who are carriers of the virus are transmitting the virus and therefore almost entirely responsible for Florida’s July/August COVID surge around the more contagious Delta Variant.

REGARDING “FREEDOM”:

“My philosophy is, as a governor, my job is to protect your individual freedom. My job is not to protect corporate freedom. That is not what I’m here for.”

Ron DeSantis September 3, 2021

TRANSLATION: Here DeSantis confirms the months of our writing that he is anti-free market. He’s admitting in this quote he does not support the free market despite claiming to be a conservative. His view is that private businesses in Florida have no right to secure the safety of their workplace by safeguarding the health of employees and customers by imposing their own standards. Keep in mind this is the same Governor who signed legislation that would ban private tech companies from enforcing their own user agreements with regards to public speech and decency standards in the state of Florida.

REGARDING MITIGATING THE VIRUS:

“I don’t want a biomedical security state in which are constantly having to do this just to be able to live everyday life.”

Ron DeSantis September 3, 2021

TRANSLATION: I will accept an unlimited amount of deaths, suffering, psychological trauma and hospitalizations to preserve “freedom.”
