With the conclusion of our Albion Florida series, we are taking a short break from podcasts and for the next month releasing historic videos both on the podcast stream and YouTube. The first two focus on the Battles of Loxahatchee in the Second Seminole War.

In July, we’ll resume normal weekly podcasts with Robert Buccellato rejoining me for several new episodes on topics such as Spring Training baseball in Florida, the development of the Florida Park System and our regular political history discussions.

You can listen to the Florida History Podcast on Anchor (which hosts our show), SpotifyGoogleApple PodcastsRadio PublicBreakerOvercastCastro or Pocket Casts. Overcast, Castro, Spotify, Radio Public and Breaker have App Store apps for free which enable you to subscribe and listen on your iPhone if you do not use the Apple Podcast app. We release a new episode weekly.

Update on nature and Florida park videos

We’ve got several dozens more videos that have already been filmed, sitting in the cue on YouTube. We release two of three videos a week there. We also have acquired new equipment including a stabilizer but many of the videos were filmed before acquiring it.

However, some of you have privately recommended that we make videos out of still pictures which might better represent the natural areas we’ve filmed. It’s too late to go back and do the sites we’ve visited recently and videoed but this gives us the ability to use pictures for future visits to tell a story, in addition to using some pictures from areas we have not videoed in the past (like Wakulla Springs and Everglades Holiday Park, both being venues where the best shots were from a boat where we didn’t film) or took pictures in addition to videos (like Blue Springs and Ponce de Leon Springs) or haven’t gone to since we started filming (like Tallahassee Museum and Fort Taylor). So our videos should get more diverse.
