Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon for his possible crimes related to Watergate. But would Marco Rubio do the opposite, in fact try and prosecute President Obama for sedition or treason? Considering that Senator Rubio stated that President Obama has “deliberately weakened America” one must assume he has evidence of the current occupant of the Oval Office’s efforts to purposely weaken the nation he was elected twice to lead.

The word deliberately is critical here, as Rubio strongly implies Obama’s efforts were premeditated and intentional. If Rubio believes this is the case and our nation has been “deliberately” harmed by public official he has no choice but come forward with the evidence of such an act. This charge is serious enough, far more critical than the laughably bombastic claims that Donald Trump continues to make and Rubio if he has the proof of this needs to be pressed by the media to release it.

While the hosts of cable news public affairs programs refuse to ask Marco Rubio the obvious questions related to his candidacy for President, instead choosing to focus on gossip regarding Donald Trump, a few obvious questions spring to mind. The most obvious one relates to this charge and whether Rubio intends to put on trial his predecessor as President of the United States should he be elected. This is important not just because of the claim Rubio has made about President Obama but because of the potential pain a trial of this magnitude would put our nation through and the implication on our global standing it would entail. But if Rubio really believes Obama has crossed this line, he needs to do what is best for the nation and release the information and state his plans on how to handle the prosecution of the sitting President if he is elected.

Strangely the mainstream media which is becoming more and more aligned with Rubio in his efforts to win the GOP nomination (and presumably the Presidency) has not expressed the outrage or concern about this Rubio statement. In fact, they have not pressed him on this at all, even though making such blanket allegations if not supported by evidence could be catastrophic if the man who makes the statement (in this case Mr. Rubio) is in fact the President of the United States.

The silence which emanates from the mainstream media has been deafening. They have failed to press Rubio on his views that the President “has deliberately weakened America.” They have let him continue to use coded words to strongly imply treasonous behavior by a sitting President  even at the debate where he repeated himself five times (they focused on his repeating lines, not what the implication of the said lines he repeated actually entailed) while the right-wing press has continued to repeat Rubio’s opinionated shots at Obama as if they were stone-cold facts, and that the President was an agent of European socialist government, Russian leader Vladimir Putin or something of that sort.

In New Hampshire last month Rubio gave additional commentary on his views:

“He (Obama) has made an intentional effort to humble us back to size as if to say ‘We no longer need to be so powerful because our power has done more harm than good,’” Rubio said. “America is in far greater danger today than it was eight years ago.”

Yet this assertion has not been challenged directly and the anti-intellectual voters who Rubio hopes will flock to his candidacy are left to believe this is the case. His words also give aid and comfort to the enemies of our country and pause to our allies. At a time when President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry are working multilaterally to improve our standing geopolitically and work with our allies, Rubio’s rhetoric damages our nation’s standing. If Donald Trump has made such a statement we’d have the cable news covering it 24/7 and asking world leaders for their opinions on this reckless and irresponsible point of view. But since Rubio, the darling of national media and perhaps their corporate parent companies has made it, silence and bliss ignorance prevail.

Some national media member or political reporter MUST ask the question. Where is the evidence of Obama’s “deliberately” weakening America, and if Rubio has the evidence will he prosecure the President if elected?
