The Florida Squeeze 
I first started writing members of Congress in undergrad. I had a similar experience with Congressman Bennett. He signed every letter and would even write comments in the margin. The comments were nearly impossible to read, but the effort was very personal.

In a land of show ponies (D.C.) Graham was a work horse. He read the intelligence about Iraq and voted against the war. After he left the Senate, he served on the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, which nailed the ones who really sunk the global economy. Unfortunately, some political hacks on the Republican side (Bill Thomas – Cal.) and especially Peter Wallison (from AEI) turned their portion of it into a partisan toilet paper.
