My first book in a series on Colonial Florida is released

Florida was only under British rule for two decades from 1763 to 1784. However, the English then the British (after the 1707 Act of Union) impacted just about everything that took place within the boundaries of Florida from 1585 onward until the 1820’s when the territory was part of the United States.

This short book which is meant as an introduction on the topic covers the years from 1585 to 1775, including the First Spanish Period and British rule of Florida up until the beginning of the American Revolution.

It’s a story of rugged colonists, Native Americans, piracy and runaway slaves from the colonies to the north turned free black soldiers in defense of Florida. It’s a story of a colonial outpost that was thriving in the 1600’s but became a fortified militarized colony in the early 1700’s. It’s a story of British efforts to try and grow the colony again when the American Revolution broke out in the colonies to the north.

This is intended as the first in a series of three works on British influence in Florida prior to the United States assuming control in the 1820’s. The entire series, known as Albion Florida should be complete by Summer 2025.

The Kindle Edition has been released (link below) and the Paperback should be available early next week.
