Before the state acquired Silver Springs, they ran Silver River State Park which was the old Paradise Park. Paradise Park was the African-American attraction when Silver Springs, was for whites only in the “Separate but Equal” days. Silver Springs owners wanted to attract African-American guests as well to the attraction but that was a no-no in Florida at the time, so they created a similar attraction a mile down the road. Now both are united as part of the Silver Springs State Park, which was created in 2013.
Below is a video of a trail in the former Paradise Park near the Silver River.
