Kennedy Space Center and the Apollo program: history made in Florida

In the latest edition of The Florida History Podcast presented by The Florida Squeeze on the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch from Cape Canaveral we look at the history of Florida’s role in the space program. We discuss Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and the Space Shuttle program as well as the intense political fight to keep the space program based in Florida. The political unity between leaders of both parties and all ideologies is why Florida played home to space launches for over a half century.
