What we are reading: Emirates bookings down 35% to the United States after first travel ban
Emirates Airline, one of the world’s largest international air carriers reported that booking to destinations in the United States dipped 35% after President Trump’s first travel ban. Emirates CEO Tim Clark said the new travel ban issued last week which is less broad led to some recovery but still less than prior to the initial ban. Dubai-based Emirates flies to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando in Florida as well as ten other US destinations, including Newark which commences today. For Florida, a tourism-based economy, if the bookings are down substantially to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando that will have a detrimental impact on Florida’s economy.
