Smithsonian Channel to show “Aerial America – Florida” tonight at 8pm ET

320px-Aerial_view_of_South_Tampa,_FloridaThe Smithsonian Channel’s Aerial America series stops in Florida tonight with an airing tonight at 8pm ET/7pm CT.

I have already seen the program  having watched it when it debuted late last year. As a fan of the Aerial America series, I was thrilled the Florida version was so contemporary and versatile. Unlike previous programs about the state that have tended to focus 75% of its time on south Florida and the Everglades, this program covers the state well from Key West to Pensacola.

Make no mistake about it – this program is still south Florida heavy and the Miami area is shown for a longer period of time than any other region. But the entire state is covered and the contrasts in vegetation and landscape that Florida has is showcased.

You can find out if you have the Smithsonian Channel on your cable or satellite provider here. Apple TV subscribers and mobile app users will also be able to see the program though not necessarily at 8pm ET.

  1. Finally watched my DVR recording this week. The show definitely could have spared some time away from Miami and south Florida. Other than showing the Sunshine Skyway during the opening introduction apparently the only thing in the Tampa Bay region worth noting was the Yankee’s spring training facility and Derek Jeeter’s home.

Love watching this show especially Florida, since I am a Floridian! Also Miami, key west and Fort Lauderdale In additional to cape carnival it’s the most interesting cultural in Florida. Miami is Florida the northwest and west Florida including Tampa are nothing but swamp to me.
