I will admit that I might be considered comic relief for a few people here. But Florida Democrats are comic relief for the rest of the nation. Enjoy constantly being the butt of all jokes regarding national Democratic Party politics 🙂 Small minds for small folks 🙂

Well, nice to see that I am relevant enough that you had to comment. You obviously think more about me than I do about you. I really appreciate it 🙂

Some of this is true as well. But the results in some parts of the state simply weren’t acceptable. We lost four State House seats in Central Florida. We lost two in the Tampa Bay area. That’s six total in the I-4 corridor.
Graham’s victory was remarkable. So we some very strong localized results. I agree with truth teller that Florida did better than most of the nation. Problem is we have had a recent history of doing worse (2006 was an example where we did well at the Congressional level but only won one of the four cabinet races and 2002 was a wipe out though it was largely a wash in other parts of the country and in 2010 as bad as it was nationally it can be argued we did even WORSE in Florida) so people just focus on the negative.
Besides I get the sense many Florida Democrats are just negative people looking for reasons to be trusted or empowered. In order to this they must tear down everyone around them in the party. So much of your analysis is right.

The party is doing just fine. Better than just about any other party in the region except one and better than the national party.
We had more significant wins in the two years than any other state party in the country except for Virginia.
The malcontents and political consultants not getting business are going to always complain. But most people in the know have come to the realization after freaking out the days after the election that the FDP does a damn good job.

Lots of “truth” does exist in what you say here. But the fact is we have lost 17 of the last 18 races for statewide Florida office. That is a record that is WORSE than any of the other state parties except Utah and Idaho, which are rock-ribbed Republican states. I do think without a doubt the party under Allison Tant is more focused and realistic than it was under Rod Smith or Karen Thurman. Scott Maddox made a mess out of things also but did focus aggressively on municipals. But most people don’t know the insider baseball and simply see the same sorts of results in off-year cycles.

The party isn’t doing well. We started at a lower baseline than other states thanks to the failures in the late 1990s and early 2000s when other southern states and Midwestern ones were doing better.
So we had less seats to lose than other states.
But the statewide results continue to be embarrassments. In our current era of straight-ticket voting when we are further to the left when the states being compared withy he results are simply unacceptable.

On the topic of bench-building, Ulvert is working for a Republican challenger to defeat a Dem for Miami commission. If you count all the Republican victories he is responsible for, Ulvert is one of the highest-performing political directors in the country. The problem isn’t the party; the problem is the way we define success. Start counting our losses as victories and we are doing great. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/nakedpolitics/2014/12/miami-commission-candidate-taps-levine-cava-campaign-team.html

Anyone who think the democrats are “doing well” or even merely okay need to have their heads examined.

Excuses. Maybe the consultants here in south Florida that actually have experience winning elections could help the FDP? Instead they are kept at arms length while the Tallahassee crowd pontificates about north Florida and rural voters.
Not knowing a thing about how to truly motivate the base leads to loses.
Steve Schale and his north Florida crowd should be banned from doing races in south Florida!
