Legislature rejects local control again; Tampa transit referendum dead

We knew this was coming but the Tampa Bay Times confirms the hope of Mayor Buckhorn to have a local option referendum on various transit projects has died. This legislature is not only out of touch with Florida’s working families but also with the infrastructure and economic needs of Florida’s largest urban areas.

For a legislature that constantly spews rhetoric about economic growth and creating jobs they certainly have little understanding of how to stimulate economic development and growth as well as attract new companies to Florida’s largest cities.

very sad…..this would have put a measly 1% additional tax on Florida tourists- it appears that Florida’s citizens w/ Rick Scott at he helm (who has repeatedly turned down federal monies that just go to a different state, ergo don’t help the federal deficit at all; which he claims is his intent) just don’t want to help themselves out of the precarious economic situation that we are in.
