Allen West is a bully, plain and simple. Students at FAU were upset with the school’s decision to take money from a controversial private prison company that would give them naming rights to the stadium. They were not alone in being against the situation, as was evident from the national coverage this news received. It was so contentious that the prison company, GEO Group, pulled its donation.

West’s wife, Angela Graham-West, is a member of the board of trustees with the school. Some of the students went to meet with her about the GEO Group’s donation, and while the two sides have different versions of the story, neither one speaks of things going down with the implication of violence ensuing. Enter former Congressman Allen West.
West took to his Facebook page and declared “This is not a threat, it is a promise that if Angela calls and tells me of one more incident, you will face me, the side of me that you do not want to see”, and added, “This is your one and only advisory notice”. He hasn’t exactly calmed down since losing the election either. During the gun control debate, he said that the only real gun control is your index finger.

One of the students is now not comfortable attending classes. She rightfully feels her First Amendment rights are being infringed upon, but is also apprehensive of retaliation from West or one of his supporters. It’s not like it’s difficult to find video on the internet of West supporters harassing and even threatening people he views as the opposition.

The student has filed a complaint with the school over West’s post on Facebook. This is the right course of action to take with a bully.
