The landscape and vegetation of Big Cypress National Preserve, which is administered by the National Parks Service changes north of I-75. Several good hiking trails are accessible from rest and recreation areas on the highway’s Alligator Alley portion in Collier County. Here is a look around them.

Lake Louisa State Park in Lake County has miles and miles of wooded trails.

These prairie areas are where the Panthers who are endangered roam.

Coral Springs’ Three Mountain Natural Area features three hills about 40-45 feet and height and was created from sand that was used to dredge local canals in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Broward County’s Markham Park is known for its picnic areas and other recreation but it also features a hidden nature trail that boasts rabbits and other wildlife on the edge of the Everglades.

Lake Louisa State Park is located in Lake County just south of Clermont off of US 27. This slideshow is of the lake itself.

The 1 1/3 mile loop at the Florida Panther Wildlife Refuge features both prairie areas and heavily wooded jungle like habitats.

This trail at the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge in Collier County is resembles a jungle and is particularly mosquito-infested in summer.
