The Governorship and national impact of Napoleon B. Broward

What Floridian was closest to being on a national ticket? The answer is likely Governor Napoleon Bonaparte Broward who became a favorite of populists, progressives and Bourbons by the time the 1908 Democratic National Convention rolled around. But here in Florida we mostly recall Broward as the Governor who did immense ecoological damage by draining the Everglades.
