On last week’s Florida History Podcast we discussed Florida’s first Democratically elected Governor, William Moseley. A Democrat, Moseley was elected in 1845 defeating Richard Keith Call. Moseley, a strong proponent of state’s rights and slavery has proven an inspiration to current Governor Ron DeSantis who adopted his official flag in 2021 as his own.
