Hurricane Debby with maximum sustained winds of 85 MPH (Cat 1) made landfall in the Big Bend region shortly before 8 am EDT – landfall was in Taylor County.
The major threat from Debby is now flooding as it is possible it will stall over Southern Georgia as steering currents weaken. This means it will pose a major flood threat to Northeast Florida including the Jacksonville metropolitan area.
Some modeling has Debby emerging as a Tropical Storm off the Georgia coastline and then making a second landfall in the Carolina’s while others have it sitting on land for 120 hours.
In any event the threat from this storm will now be flooding and potentially lots of rain for many many days even if there is limited flooding in North Florida.
