US win T20 Cricket World Cup opener

The U.S.A. celebrated the arrival of World Cup cricket coming to the country for the first time with a thrilling victory over Canada in the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on night of June 1. 

Batter Aaron Jones of USA lit up the opening night, smashing a record 10 sixes (the equivalent of 10 home runs in a baseball match) in a score of 94 not out to give the vocal home fans at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas a night to remember. 

Playing in the T20 World Cup for the first time, U.S.A. recorded their highest ever winning score batting second, chasing Canada’s total 195.

Lauderhill is among the three US host sites for the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup and will host its first match on June 11.
