As many of you have no doubt noticed our four primary channels at The Florida Squeeze have gone in different directions lately. Our Twitter feed reacts to the most recent events in Florida government and politics with a certain tone and style perhaps not found on this website.
Our YouTube channel has gone in a completely different direction largely focusing on natural areas within the state of Florida with the occasional history documentary.
Our podcast feed is almost entirely about Florida History.
And finally this website has been a potpourri of stuff, but largely non-political of late with the exception of critiques related to Governor DeSantis.
We value our readers input and felt compelled today to explain where we are today. We are doing this based on complaints from our readers that we’re not covering politics enough, while others have been concerned about the tone on Twitter.
While this may seem irreconcilable and random, our goal is to give a diversity of thought and content that covers Florida as a whole. TFS isn’t simply about politics or government. I regret that we may have created the impression over the course of our 11-year history that our sole focus was on political intrigue in Tallahassee and fighting internal battles within the Democratic Party. It’s never been just that.
Regarding our Twitter feed, that platform itself is prone to belligerence. I have myself noted as an individual that nuance, moderation and attempts to foster a dialogue cannot happen on that platform. Therefore, we’ve chosen to be edgy, provocative and thought-inducing. We’re going to continue down this road.
In terms of YouTube, creating a platform for content about the state as a whole absent politics was the goal and we feel we are on our way toward that.
For the podcast, we’ve focused exclusively on history and once our current series on Florida’s historic forts and fortifications concludes, we’re going to do a series on amusement parks in Florida. Stay tuned for more details on that.
We value everyone’s input and ideas. Thanks again for supporting us!

I appreciate the info. Because the Twitter platform is not conducive to rational political discussions, where will that occur?
