Gulf Islands National Seashore is managed by the National Parks Service and contains seven different pockets in Florida and Mississippi. Below is an overview of the Florida areas in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties.
Also included in the area are two historic forts, Fort Barrancas and Fort Pickens as well as several batteries used in World War I and World II. All three of those historic sites will be featured in soon upcoming Florida History podcasts.
