In episode three of The Florida History Podcast we give a quick overview of the state of Florida in America’s bloodiest ever conflict.

We discuss Florida’s secession decision, the Union blockade, the importance of Key West and coastal Florida, the importance of the state for blockade running as well as supplies to the Confederacy. Tallahassee was also the one southern capital not captured by the Union during the war, following the Confederate victory at the Battle of Natural Bridge.
