Fort Lauderdale Strikers lineup changes likely tonight vs San Antonio

KartikReport_FTL (1)The Fort Lauderdale Strikers travel to San Antonio for tonight’s clash with the Scorpions on the back of two successive loses at home. This puts the Strikers in a situation where they now trail Edmonton and Tampa Bay by three points for the final spot in the NASL Championship.

Several significant changes to the Strikers lineup is expected tonight. Here is an overview of them.

  • Creative Midfielder Gabriel is out for tonight’s match with an injury picked up in training.
  • PC returns from suspension and is expected to start.
  • Captain Ivan Guerrero is fit again and will regain his spot at left back. PC is likely to start at left midfield. NASL leading goal scorer Stefano Pinho will move from the right to the left and Jose Angulo should start up top. Walter Ramirez could play on the left side of midfield with PC shifting to the right and Stefano up top.
  • Goalkeeper Josh Ford has been recalled from his loan spell early by Orlando City SC and will not be available for selection by Fort Lauderdale. Ford has started 16 matches for the Strikers during his loan spell. He will be available for selection for Orlando tonight against Montreal in a big game at the Citrus Bowl.

Those of you in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale TV market can find the match on WSFL CH 39 at 8:30 EST. For the rest of the state (and nation), you can watch online on ESPN3.

That is pretty unfortunate that Orlando did that but they are in an MLS playoff race and probably now realize they need him to backup Hall. Who will be the Strikers keeper now?

    1. Lionel Brown will likely start. He’s a local kid from Broward County in his fourth year with the club. Started very few games but ironically the majority have been against teams from Texas (San Antonio in NASL and Laredo in US Open Cup).

Very sad to hear about Ford.

You really think Angulo instead of Ramirez playing?
