JetBlue and Azul sign interline agreement

Azul_Linhas_Aereas_Airbus_A330-200_(PR-AIV)_at_FLLIt was reported today in the Brazilian press that JetBlue and  Azul Airlines have signed an interline agreement, The agreement  will allow passengers to travel on one ticket from Brazil to destinations in the United States and the Caribbean via Fort Lauderdale or Orlando. Azul is the third largest Brazilian carrier and JetBlue , the US’s fifth largest airline operates close to 100 daily flights from Fort Lauderdale and about 65 a day from Orlando.

Azul and JetBlue were founded by same man, David Neeleman, which might explain the similarity in names between the two airlines he started. Earlier this year, Azul announced it was becoming the shirt sponsor for the NASL’s Fort Lauderdale Strikers, which was a clear attempt to create more brand awareness within Florida.
