Poll: How would you describe Charlie Crist’s Ideology?

Charlie Crist has been described as “all things to all people,” a conservative, a populist, a liberal, an opportunist. Today we are giving TFS readers an opportunity to have a say on how they would describe Governor Crist’s ideology. Vote in the below poll and leave comments in the thread below.

Why didn’t you have wishy washy or political opportunist on here. He has no ideology. Blows with the wind from one office to the next.

About Crist–How could one tell?. You forgot the choice, “which way the wind blows.” AS anyone with even a tiny bit of experience in sampling will tell you, the results of this poll are useless as the forced choices are not inclusive enough and don’t include an option like “opportunist.”
REMEMBER, Nan Rich is the true liberal democrat.

My answer is totally dependent on which day of the week it is.

If I vote no clue – will it mean that Charlie doesn’t – if not, there should be what this week’s headlines?

Agree with the others. None of those choices apply to Crist.

This is not a good poll, as you can vote as many times as you want. So your poll means nothing. Charlie is a moderate.

The poll is blocked for return votes by cookie. So duplicate votes DO NOT COUNT. One vote per IP address.

Charlie is a moderate because he populist, liberal and conservative all at the same time. That is not a compliment by the way!

I think he is a moderate progressive, and that’s why I’m voting for him.

Charlie Crist was willing to accept stimulus money from the federal government for the people of Florida at a time when we really needed it. Republicans hated him for it. He didn’t leave the Republican party, they left him. Rick Scott turned down so much federal funding – for high speed rail, for home health workers so seniors and the disabled would be able to say in their homes instead of having to be moved to nursing homes, and for expanded Medicaid – it’s disgusting!

Tricky Ricky also turned down $$ to investigate Medicare fraud. Gee, wonder why?

Almost purely a political opportunist, a symptom of the confusions and corruptions of Florida’s current electoral politics. And an alarm signaling the institutional weaknesses of the Florida Democratic Party at the state and local levels. Why is a Republican a more electable Democrat than any real Democrat (Nan Rich) at the state level?

Only Charlie knows for sure but I doubt he has any strongly held ideology. I also doubt he has a burning desire for public service. Shopping himself to John McCain for the VP spot after less than two years as Governor and then abandoning his incumbency for the national stage a year later speaks to his narcissism. Charlie uses the political system to serve Charlie and adopting the progressive ideology is a matter of necessity.

There needs to be a category “self serving”
