Oren Dorell at USA Today is reporting that Jews in the pro-Russian  Ukrainian City of Donetsk, which has hd its government buildings overrun by pro-Russian militia, are being told they must register the Ukrainian government. According to the USA Today report:

Jews emerging from a synagogue say they were handed leaflets that ordered the city’s Jews to provide a list of property they own and pay a registration fee “or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated,” reported Ynet News, Israel’s largest news website… The leaflets bore the name of Denis Pushilin, who identified himself as “Chariman of Donetsk’s temporary government” and were distributed near the Donetsk synagogue.

 

It should be noted in recent years incidents of racism, homophobia and antisemitism have been on the rise in Russia.  Recently one of the largest soccer teams in the country was told by its fans they should not have any black or gay players. This is among the long list of outrageous actions taken in Putin’s Russia towards ethnic and religious minority groups.
