We’ve given Charlie Crist credit over the past few days for his strong words on the Cuban embargo. However, it must be pointed out that Senator Nan Rich made a similar statement last year on the embargo, a stand that is largely unique among leading south Florida Democrats.
From the Tampa Bay Times on June 21st 2013.
She joked afterward that she thought a question, however predictable, from member Al Fox deserved the award. He asked her views on opening relations with Cuba — which Fox strongly advocates — but in a way that sought to force her to link or distance herself with or from other Democratic politicians. Rich was careful in her answer.
Clearly, she said, the lack of relations between the United States and Cuba for the past 51 years has not gotten results. Further, the United States does have relations with other countries known for human-rights abuses, such as China.
“I think it’s time to try a new tack and begin to have a dialogue,” Rich said.

I was there at that Tiger Bay debate and Nan Rich’s “weanie” half-hearted comments on Cuba hardly deserve any mention or respect for that matter.
It was hardly a “John Hancock” moment.
Nan received zero news because she deserves no credit for trying.
Nice try though Kartik.

Your credibility is suspect when you use an alias. Your put down of Nan is limp.

I am impressed that Nan Rich made these statements about the Cuban embargo, and made them a year ago. It is common sense to lift this useless embargo.

And you are a poor prognosticator.

Nan can win! We just need Democrats to stop saying she can’t win and start working to help her win! Remember, turnout in off year primary elections is very low, often only 10 percent! The voters who come out and vote in primaries are the activist voters. Nan Rich has the support of the vast majority of grassroots activist Democrats. Keep that in mind before you tell people she can’t win! She is the better candidate and can beat Scott in Nov. Stop saying no and start working for yes!

As Crist runs around the country hawking his book, he is telling people he thinks Jeb Bush would be a good President. Really? I thought I heard somewhere that Crist became a Democrat. Seems to me he lacks the values that Democrats espouse. Has he even read the Party Platform? It is only 4 pages long. Surely he can concentrate that long. Nan Rich can win and she is the only Democrat in the race.
