Special TFS Podcast: Syria and President Obama

Steven Kurlander and Kartik Krishnaiyer break down the Syria speech by President Obama, historical precedents for US actions and the general foreign policy drift of this administration.  Kurlander is very critical of the President while Krishnaiyer, a supporter of the President is extremely critical of the incoherent handling of this Syria mess and of Russia in general. He however holds out hope that domestic policy where the President has excelled will not be impacted by this, while Kurlander argues Obama’s handling of Syria has undermined his ability to deal with domestic issues. It is agreed that with the debt fight and potential government shutdown looming President Obama needs to regain the domestic initiative. Also discussed is Secretary Kerry, whom Krishnaiyer defends as a victim of the Administration’s inconsistent policy and Secretary Chuck Hagel. The podcast runs about 36 minutes.

I wish this was nonsense but I fear Obama has really lost his bully pulpit with this debacle. Sad but it’s reality.

    Good wars and bad wars.

Syria would be a good war unlike Iraq.

Blind allegiance is the mother of tyranny. If you can take a minute to leave this drive-by comment, then perhaps you’ll find another to explain, in your opinion, why Syria would be a good war and Iraq a bad war?

I think that it is to say, completely lost when it comes to the policy. He will no longer have the political capital he once had.
