Florida Democrats and the NSA Scandal

The worldwide press particularly the Guardian has been focused on the NSA scandal and even here in the US it is hard to turn on the TV and not find some sort of discussion of the issue on news programs. The reporting to break the news was almost entirely done by liberals and liberal publications yet many Democrats, particularly here in Florida seem to be silent on the issue.

When George W. Bush pushed the envelope with regards to civil liberties, Democrats including those here in Florida were all over the President. I sense because this scandal is linked to the Obama Administration, Democrats are reluctant to articulate to strong views on what should be a fundamental issue of privacy for most liberals.

What scandal?? I thought the President explained the administration position very well last week. There is a fine line to walk between individual privacy and the protection of our country. I trust this President far more than ANY Republican to carefully protect both without sacrificing either.

    Scandal?????

    WTF!!!!

    F U KK

Go join the republicans and Fox News if you think this is a big deal.

Clinton lied no one died and Bush lied and 5,000 died.

Obama does it and it is a scandal?

These right-wingers created this “scandal” with shoddy reporting and selective facts.

They might be leftists but by attacking our president they are enabling the Republicans.

Do you trust Obama or not?

He won’t sacrifice privacy for a witch hunt. Bush did.

I am not happy about this. Obama’s explanations are weak.

Plenty of Ds are up in arms about it, just not many from Florida.

Plenty of Democrats are angry, but as you state and the reason I posted this to begin with is that Florida Dems seem not to care. I find that odd, because Democrats from all other corners of the country are speaking out one way or another.

This is a deadly serious matter. The NSA acquiring phone records without a warrant or court hearing is a total circumvention of the constitution. I don’t care what party, just sick.

The post-9/11 Patriot Act – rubber stamped by plenty of jelly-spined Dems – provided not just a slippery slope but a greased rail to this. It was inevitable; it just happened to open up under Obama’s watch. Americans have been unduly exposed to government intrusion since the Patriot Act as we’ve handed national security a blank check to anything and everything it wants. Thinking Obama’s administration negates the threat is incredibly foolish. No Dems want to touch this because it has been such a bi-partisan abdication of leadership from the beginning. Despite their share of the fault, it’ time for FL Dems to show some spine, even if it means agreeing to a degree with Obama admin critics.

I said it was wrong when Bush did it and I’m saying it’s wrong now. I’m disappointed that more Democrats aren’t outraged. http://www.people-press.org/files/2013/06/6-10-13-4.png

What kind of Democrat are you Kartik? Denigrate our best hope of beating Rick Scott in Charlie Crist and now attacking our President like Rand Paul is? And how about the bitter Hillary backers and your friends attacking Charlie? All GOP sympathizees now.

What hypocrites! You give away all your rights to privacy the first time you enter the internet. But, when the government does it to protect its citizens you cry foul. Every time you search on goggle, the information is not just recorded, it is sold to vendors who might have a product or an article they think you might want to BUY. I stand with the 56% of Americans who don’t mind.
