Once part of the IBM campus in Boca Raton, Pondhawk Natural Area preserves unique scrub and pine flatwoods as well as some restored wetlands areas. It’s especially neat given it is in a core urban area, just west of Florida Atlantic University.

The Delaware Scrub Natural Area in Palm Beach County features a Cypress Swamp, a desert-like scrub habitat and mangroves adjoining the Loxahatchee River.

Wildcat Cove is in St Lucie County and features an extensively preserved mangrove habitat.

This slide show video contains photos from a hiking trail deep into Big Cypress National Preserve which is accessible from the rest area on I-75 NB at mile marker 62 (Alligator Alley) in Collier County between Fort Lauderdale and Naples. These photos are from mid-September, about two weeks before Hurricane Ian hit the area.
