Welcome to the 11th Province

Dave Trotter has launched a new site that I will be contributing to, called the 11th Province.

It’s about Canadian politics, something as a Floridian I have had a keen interest in ever since taking a Canadian Politics class taught by Dr. Martinez thirty years ago this semester at the University of Florida.

Canada and Florida have been tied together inextricably through the years and my work in soccer from 2007 onward made me even more of a Canada-phile as I was often working for or with Canadian interests in the sport.

As a result, I have a keen interest and sense about Canadian domestic politics as well as her relationship with the United States, the UK and the European Union. Also thanks to my studies about the history of North America of which I’ve written extensively about and have published multiple books about, I’ve come to understand Canadian history and nationalism in a way that’s perhaps unique for an American.

I also admire in recent years, Canada’s willingness to stand up to the bullying tactics previously of India and currently of the United States.

As a result, I have an interest in writing and commenting about my observations related to Canadian politics and will do so at this new site.
