Virgin Atlantic resuming Orlando-Manchester and other Florida airline news

This week Virgin Atlantic announced it would resume Orlando-Manchester and London-Heathrow nonstop service in November. London service had been suspended due to the Delta Variant, Manchester, I believe has not been flown since March 2020.

Following last week’s suspension of Southwest Airlines service from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman until April, American has suspended Miami-Grand Cayman flights until February.

American has also pulled out of Miami-Managua until next year.

Spirit which recently cut Fort Lauderdale-Greensboro nonstop is doing the same to Orlando-Greensboro nonstops.

JetBlue has brought Fort Lauderdale-Palm Springs nonstops back for the summer but it won’t be flown this winter (Isn’t Palm Springs a winter destination? This route confuses me – as stated last week it is the only nonstop flight EVER from Palm Springs to a Florida city).

Flair Airlines has extended a number of flights from Fort Lauderdale and Sanford to Canada into the summer. Service has not begun to either city yet and the flights were supposed to be winter seasonal. The additions probably mean bookings are very high, as pent-up demand for Canadian travel to Florida has been often discussed as COVID restrictions have been gradually eased north of the border.

Eastern Airlines has cancelled Miami-Belo Horizonte nonstops permanently.

United will fly Orlando-Indianapolis this winter and is increasing service between Cleveland and both Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale.
