Crist: Democrats Want to Have “Government Control of Everything”

In November 2009, Crist criticized the Democrats’ health care reform proposal, saying that Democrats “want to have government control of everything.”  He also said that Democrats want to put a “bureaucrat between you and your doctor.”   Crist told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he felt health care reform was being pushed “almost literally down our throats” and suggested without any specifics a “free enterprise approach” to health care.  [South Florida Sun-Sentinel, 11/23/2009]

  1. This is 2014, why should I care what he said in 2009. People change, every day as we learn, same with Charlie. He’s got my vote, same as when he ran as a RINO. Liked him them, even more now.

    1. A problem is it is funded by some the same interests that fund the FDP. I hope Crist makes this campaign about economic issues, public corruption and the incompetence of the Florida Legislature and members in both parties. As a former Governor who had to deal with the ideologically driven narrow minded approach of the state’s leaders he is in a unique position to make this argument. Let’s he if he does it.

      1. “Let’s Get to Work” funds the FDP?

      2. Well the FDP (legislative race related) gets lots of $$$ from US Sugar, Florida Crystals and Insurance interests…the very same people bankrolling “Let’s Get to Work.”

The failure of Florida Democrats to find independent funding sources and allow their legislators, particularly in safe seats to essentially be funded by the same special interests that fund the GOP might explain why they don’t fight the fight on so many important issues in the way would want them to.

      3. I mean, I might have been out of the loop for a while, but do you know why the Crist campaign gave the FDP $136,000 last quarter (or, and I see that Christopher Findlater is a big contributor to the FDP now).

      5. Oh, I guess it has to do with the fact that the FDP is paying or the Crist staff.

      6. Which is perfectly legal…I got paid by the party when I was doing campaigns in the primary before. Staffing is a legal party expense.

      8. Pass through money. The FDP is not paying Crist’s staff.

  4. Ok, I didn’t look at the expenditures, just the amount contributed.

Is the FDP also funding Nan Rich????

    1. Yes and that too is perfectly legal. It’s smart for both Rich and Crist to run money through the party this way.

    2. I don’t know about how campaign funds work (nor do I care). So I am sure you can take Kartik’s word for it.
